Lifestyle: Freshly Found Vintage Paper Inspired Christmas Decor
For a quirkier, vintage-inspired look and feel to your Christmas décor then Freshly Found has some inspired decorations. Inspired by a love of vintage and the Japanese traditional craft of origami, the vintage paper is sourced through the recycling of books made by local crafters and folded to make items like Christmas trees, baubles and hearts. I adore the heart made with vintage jigsaw puzzle pieces, very playful, taking me back to my childhood. The Christmas tree is made from folded book pages mounted onto wire to give it a three-tiered structure and comes with two pom-pom garlands on a red chain. Cards and decorations can be displayed by wedging in between the folds or fastening on with pegs. ZAR100 form every tree sold is donated to the Focus on iThemba charity, a place of hope that puts children first with initiatives designed to inspire and shape future leaders through improving education and encouraging positive parenting.

Freshly Found is an online furnishings and accessories boutique that aims to bring a fresh feel to vintage products. Freshly Found was established by South African-based Denise Kiggan who has a love for repurposing vintage and found goods. Denise carefully selects then commission products for the site and with the help of local crafters and artists, the found materials are turned into unique product ranges. The creative showcased include Callie Purdon who is passionate about jewellery, Hlengiwe Mbambo who creates funky footwear embellished with traditional hand-beading, Sandile Sithole who works on the Bibliogami products, Colette Jensen who creates the delicate crochet products, Christy Kiggan graphic designer, Khule Shezi photographic assistant and newcomer to bibliogami, and Claire Norden a graphic designer and illustrator specialising in embroidery. All products are hand made in the KwaZulu Natal region in South Africa. Freshly Found is definitely the place to find for something different.
