Sifiso Shange’s Afri Modern Furniture Tells Stories Through Design
Afri Modern is an award-winning multi-disciplinary design studio that tells stories through design. The studio, based in Johannesburg, South Africa was founded in 2018 by Sifiso Shange. An interior designer and storyteller Sifiso refers to himself as a modern Zulu man, one who taps into his culture to create statement, modernist designs that tell the African Nguni stories of his heritage.
Minimalist geometric shapes and patterned motifs accentuated with bold colours are key features of Sifiso’s design aesthetic. In keeping with his brand philosophy, every furniture design has behind it a story rooted in seven values among them faith, culture and identity.
