Decor: Dassie Interior’s Rustic Charm

Dassie is an online interiors store that retails inspirational homeware trends. Dassie was founded by the husband and wife team, David and Rox, who sought to bring their take on feel-good homeware to the UK. The company draws on the couple’s South African heritage, and sources beautifully handmade products from artisans across the African continent.

Rustic charm characterise’s Dassie’s products, which predominately feature earthy tones and beautiful patterns as seen with the Ceramic bowls, Chevron Enamel Tableware, and Itawuli towel collections. Itawuli towels are among my favourites, and are inspired by South Africa’s landscape and heritage. ‘Itawuli’ (towel), and the stripe detail that runs through the middle of the towel is noted as being a favoured pattern used in the traditional woolen Basotho Blankets. The overall pattern also reminds me of ShweShwe, a fabric popular in South Africa.
