Architect Ifeanyi Oganwu Branches Out Into Jewellery Design
Ifeanyi Oganwu the Nigerian-born architect known for his organic shaped furniture designs has expanded into jewellery design with his debut collection for Elisabetta Cipriani. A London-based gallery that invites international artists, designers and creative’s to create contemporary jewellery pieces or limited edition series, which are then showcased by, and sold through the gallery.
For his collection, Ifeanyi drew inspiration from his architectural background. Forming the jewellery shapes, lines of metropolitan skylines reflected in bodies of water seek to unify natural and manmade landscapes. Unveiled at Design Miami the collection entitled Cityscapes comprises a set of cufflinks, earrings, and a double ring, all in 9k rose gold and signed an numbered.
Ifeanyi’s practice Expand Design has a history of innovative collaborations, including master craftsmen in Italy, to the stool created with African inspired textiles brand Toghal and artist Phoebe Boswell for the 1:54 London Lounge.
