Anita Quansah Hand-Embellished Raffia Slippers

I just had to stop for a second to feast my eyes on these too cute for words creations. They tickle my shoe obsession! These fun and fabulous statement slippers are by Anita Quansah, a London-based accessories designer. I have shared Anita’s statement jewellery previously and these slip-on shoes are next level exquisiteness, that can be dressed up or down- think floaty maxi’s, jeans, shorts, and even tailored suits.

Working from her London studio Anita crafts each handmade-to-order pair herself, which is no mean feat given the level of detailing that goes into the creation of each design. Starting with leather soles and an ethically sourced raffia base Anita transforms the ordinary and makes it extraordinary by using feathers, beads, shells, pom poms, tassels, and more to create the intricate designs. Sustainability is a key feature of Anita’s work, as many of the materials are upcycled, repurposed, or found objects.

Drawing on opulent adornment cultures from around the world Anita’s style is like a fun-filled carnival, offering up an explosion of colours, patterns, and textures. You get the sense of someone who truly enjoys her craft and would adorn anything she can get her hands on. Much like I’d like to get my hands on a pair!
