Introduced to Manna through an article in the online magazine, Hornblend, I was instantly taken with the delicate vintage feel of the jewellery pieces that are designed and handmade by designer Bunmi Balogun, who works from her studio in London’s Kensington. Growing up in a home filled with vintage charm and antiques Bunmi is inspired by the old; by heritage and craftsmanship, coupled with the influences of her highly creative parents and multicultural upbringing; the designer was born in Nigeria, grew up in Lagos and rural England and travelled extensively. These diverse influences can be seen across Manna designs through the shapes, forms and patterns used, executed in colour palettes drawn from vibrant African prints alongside the muted tones of the English countryside.

Manna jewellery is dainty and romantic, mostly using small exquisite precious and semi-precious gems that Bunmi handpicks herself to ensure the quality of each. Offset against the precious metals of solid gold, sterling and fine silver, deep rich colours of rubies and garnets contrast beautifully with sparkling emerald, peridot, amethyst, prehnite, lolite and smoky quartz, and the polished sheen of lapis lazuli and coral to name a few. Vintage style fittings, from which the colourful gems and strings of lustrous pearls suspend add to the aura of romance and femininity.

All Manna’s jewellery pieces are available as one-of-a-kind or in limited edition collections and include a range of pendants in solid 18 or 24k gold each set with 2 sapphires, or rubies or polished diamonds and feature intricate hand-laid patterns designed by Bunmi and handcrafted in India. The pendants can be purchased alone or incorporated into the jewellery design of you choice. Manna works with clients looking to create a bespoke piece or rework precious, sentimental heirloom jewellery; for example lockets, charms and pearls, restrung or mixed with other gems to give them a new lease of life.

…Manna jewellery makes a beautiful keepsake no matter what the occasion.
