Food & Drink: Irresistible Delectable treats From G Desserts

My sister is an avid baker often conjuring up the most delectable treats, so one day a few weeks ago whilst watching her whip up a batch of cupcakes I mused the rise and rise of the cupcake, and where they could possibly go next… so imagine my delight when I came across a Daily Candy London posting on the most exquisite looking cupcakes encased in a glass jar. How simple but ingenious an idea brought to you by Gillian Boateng of G Desserts.

The idea was one born out of practicality – as a busy mum, keeping the cakes in jars prolonged freshness and meant they could be part of packed lunches for the whole family to enjoy and more importantly Gillian could keep an eye on the ingredients that were going into the cakes, only working with the freshest natural ingredients for indulgent homemade goodness. Gillian credits her love of baking to her childhood growing up in Ghana where it was done all the time and I think baking is a lovely way of bringing families together. Flavours include Chocolate Nutter, Simply Vanilla, Red Velvet and Lemon Passion, with an equally delicious selection of icings to choose from.

Cupcakes in a jar solves the problem of squishy icing when trying to take home a ‘souvenir’ wrapped in foil paper or plastic (as I can attest), and makes them ideal for picnics, gifts and wedding/party favours.
