Yala Jewellery Handcrafted in Kenya with an Ethical Heart and Soul
Creating as little environmental impact as possible and paying artisans fairly is the mission behind Yala, an award-winning ethical jewellery brand. Based in the UK Yala has its roots in Kenya where founder Audrey Migot-Adholla is from and takes its name from the Kenyan town where her grandmother lived.
Yala works in partnership with over 150 Kenyan artisans to produce small batch collections that are handcrafted using materials including recycled brass and reclaimed horn, along with exquisite beadwork techniques. Through its designs, Yala seeks to challenge the common misconceptions about Africa and its people using beautiful design, entrepreneurship and creative talent to change the narrative.
Audrey’s commitment to ethics and the environment has seen Yala become the very first jewellery company in the UK to be a Certified B Corporation. A new global initiative recognising businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose.
Yala jewellery also won the 2019 Sustainable Lifestyle Awards Jewellery Brand of the Year.
