Situated along London’s fashionable King’s Road you will find Mijola Daniel, a jewellery boutique offering its clients exquisite jewellery pieces, along with a bespoke service for those in search of something more personal. Mijola Daniel was set up by Bola Ogundipe; a design lover who was looking for some flexibility in her working life after the birth of her third child. Combining her African heritage with western design influences Bola created her first collection and then went on to have her creations stocked within various concessions around West London. Her heart, however, lay in opening her own boutique a dream she realised in 2005. The name she gave her boutique was Mijola Daniel, the combination of Bola’s name, that of her husband and their children.
This is jewellery designed for the individual. Each piece is designed and handcrafted as a one-off by Bola and her team, as well as carefully selected artisans from around the world who craft some of the designs and components used. Taking inspiration from nature and from the textiles and materials found in Africa, the style is bold and colourful whilst maintaining an air of refinement and elegance.
[Image credits: Mijola Daniel] Bola sources her material and gemstones from around the world using stones like turquoise, coral, tourmaline offset with diamonds, quartz, onyx and a sprinkling of shimmering pearls all accentuating the gold and silver metals. Alongside jewellery the boutique also retails a carefully selected range of accessories from some stunning hand-dyed silk scarves to delicately beaded and vintage fabric clutch bags.
