A gem of an online destination, Dar Leone is dedicated to bringing you the best in globally influenced interior décor products and accessories. Based in London, Dar Leone was launched in June 2012 by Isatu Funna, a US attorney who is originally from Sierra Leone. For Isatu, Dar Leone is the fulfilment of a long-held interest in African interior design; and inspired by global design, in general, the philosophy of Dar Leone is to offer luxury global traveller style for the home; achieved through a thoughtfully chosen selection of every day and traditional products sourced from around the globe that are complemented by a contemporary range of products designed and handmade in London.
Dar Leone’s stylish current collections are predominately drawn from West and Central Africa and see sculptural baskets from Senegal handwoven in njodax grass and accentuated with colourful recycled plastic strips. I especially adore the massive Senegalese woven hampers… the size, colours and patterns… I coveted them during my time in Dakar but was faced with the reality of getting one in my suitcase; alas it wasn’t going to happen! Equally stunning are the cushion ranges from the colour blocked geometric styles featuring bold chevron, Ikat and other graphic patterns; to the use of Kasai Velvet cloth from the Democratic Republic of Congo, also known as Kuba Cloth or simply Velvets. The mixed patterns, textures and tones of the Kasai Velvet Tiger Pillow in particular catch my eye. Backing the cushions in sumptuous complementary-hued velvet adds a luxury touch to the cushions.

The current product range also includes table linens, placemats, and beach mats made from recycled plastic that would be ideal to use when attending summer festivals, as well as around the home. Dar Leone’s product range is expanding and is one to keep in mind for even more stylish and sophisticated offerings.
Prices range from: £8-£140
